- Every time you eat from the freezer, instead of eating out or ordering in, you save money.
- Family life is busy and often unpredictable. Having a few meals in the freezer ensures you have good food for your family every day of the week.
- Knowing you have meals in the freezer reduces your drive-home mealtime stress.
- Freezer cooking saves you time because you don’t have to cook every night from scratch.
- If you have children old enough to know their way around the kitchen safely, they can pull out the meal and cook it. As can spouses, grandparents and babysitters.
- You can eat an interesting variety of foods and still have time to make a salad or steam some veggies while the main course cooks.

- Try the recipes out first. While we love our dishes, we’d hate for you to have 6 of them in your freezer before you know they’re family favourites.
- Handle frozen meat safely. Don’t thaw frozen raw meat and then re-freeze without cooking it thoroughly first.
- Remove as much air from the food items as possible before placing them in the freezer. It will help keep your meals frost-free.
- Label each meal clearly with waterproof label and/or ink. Write down the name of the dish and some simple cooking instructions.
- Don’t put hot foods into freezer bags. Wait until they’ve cooled down.
- Once you’ve tried a recipe and love it, always make more than one.
- If you’re using freezer bags to store food, make sure you’re using freezer and not storage bags.
- Glass or ceramic dishes are terrific for freezing – but you’ll need a freezer with lots of stacking space.
